FAME Named One of Best Places to Work in Maine for 12th Consecutive Year

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Best Companies Group and BridgeTower Media have recognized the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) as one of the 2026 Best Places to Work in Maine. The program honors companies that foster a positive environment that allows employees to thrive.

“This is the 12th straight year FAME has been honored with this recognition and we couldn’t be more pleased,” said Carlos Mello, CEO of FAME. “While FAME’s mission is focused on supporting the success and futures of Maine families and businesses, we are also deeply committed to our employees who are at the heart of everything we do.”

The Best Places to Work program has been around since 2004 and recognizes companies in three categories: small, medium and large. The partners evaluate the businesses based in large part on a survey employees fill out describing their workplace experiences.

One of FAME’s employees responded to a survey question by writing:

“The people here at FAME are clearly passionate about the work we do. It’s easy to feel this way when you know that what you’re doing makes a difference for the people and businesses all across the state. And, the company sees that and shows us that we’re valued by providing excellent benefits that include financial recognition and health and wellness programs.”

Along with the employee survey, the partners also look at a company’s policies and benefits and how those impact employees when choosing which companies will be honored.

“They are champions of business because they look out for the well-being of their team members in addition to what’s best for the company’s bottom line,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of BridgeTower Media for the East Division. “We are pleased to join our partners in recognizing these outstanding businesses.”

The Best Places to Work companies will be honored on October 13 at a celebratory event at the Augusta Civic Center.

FAME is a quasiindependent state agency that provides innovative financial solutions to help Maine people and businesses pursue educational and economic opportunities.
