MaineDOT to Temporarily Close One Southbound Lane on I-295 in Portland

PORTLAND– August 25, 2026 –The Maine Department of Transportation will close a single southbound lane of I-295 in Portland this morning to repair a large pothole discovered between mile markers 8 and 9. 

The pothole, approximately 8 inches in diameter, was identified on the roadway near the Portland/Falmouth line. 

MaineDOT maintenance crews are on site and will close a section of the passing lane while repairs are underway. Motorists should expect minor delays through the area. 

Repairs are expected to be completed and the lane reopened by mid-afternoon today.
